As we all flock to flop this spring and summer, here’s some fast facts behind one of the most popular hat designers, accessory designer Eugenia Kim:

• Her biggest break: when JLo wore her “big white floppy hat” at the 2001 American Music Awards.
• Her second biggest break: when Lindsay Lohan wore one of her fedoras while slumped over and passed out in her SUV at 4am.
• Kim studied at Dartmouth to be a doctor until she broke her back while sledding on a cafeteria tray and had to stay in the hospital for a month. After that she found hospitals to be too depressing.
• Shop-owners first discovered Kim’s hats when she was wearing her own hat design after shaving her own head in response to a bad haircut. New York is a cold ass city bald, so she made a hat.
• Kim started her business at the age of 22.
• During 2001, Kim’s personal signature accessory was a pink leather newsboy cap which she wore six days a week.
• Kim is a huge Saved by the Bell fan, and once told her mom she wanted to change her name to Tiffani, with a heart over the i.
• Kim identifies as having both OCD and ADD, and says that they’ve helped her in her work.
• The two people she knows will never wear her hats: her parents.
• Kim loves New York so much that she once claimed that she pants upon seeing the Statue of Liberty when returning to the city.
